ABOUT US

Trials in Phase 1 were conducted at the NSW Department of Primary Industries’ Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute (EMAI), at Camden.

At the same time we had ‘Partner’ dairy farmers who tested the technical findings under commercial conditions. Our ‘partner farms’ were located in various Australian locations.

To determine if the findings are feasible, we also needed to understand the ‘people’ issues that can make the difference between a technology being used on-farm or not. This is why we had research scientists, extension personnel, dairy farmers and social researchers working and learning together, in what was termed a ‘co-learning approach’.

In Phase 2, trials are being conducted at EMAI (Automatic Milking Research farm) and The University of Sydney’s Corstorphine dairy farm.

We are continuously disseminating findings and practical information for farmers and advisors through this web site, field days, group visits, conferences and media articles.  However, our extension activities will be delivered through the industry’s existing network of dairy advisers across Australia.  In particular we have linkages with DEC (DPI VIC) in Victoria and Dairy Pathways (NSW DPI dairy extension program).
